New power supply for the Dimension E510
I'm looking to replace my power supply for the Dimension E 510 (to hopefully fix the blinking amber light of death).
Can anyone please post a link to good replacement PSU's that are affordable (hoping to spend around $35-$40).
Would this one work?

The 5150/E510 does not use a Dell proprietary power supply, you can use most standard generic ATX power supplies with either a 24-pin or 20+4-pin main motherboard power connector and two SATA power connectors, this can be purchased from most local, or online computer stores.
As this system has an open back panel, a power supply with or without the on/off switch can be used.
The COOLER MASTER Elite 460 RS-460-PSAR-J3 460W ATX12V V2.31 Power Supply, shown in your link, should be fine.

Don't know about that one, but you can find a 305W Dell OEM power supply for the E510, here, here, and here for $50 including shipping.
As always, confirm part numbers, compatibility and warranty before purchasing...

EDIT: You can compare specs to the one at newegg with the OEM Dell models at those links to see if they're similar. You also need to check if that PSU has its own power switch on the rear, and whether you'll need to mod the back of your tower to allow any switch to be accessible, assuming that's an issue for the E510 case.

Thanks, Ron. Yeah, I was avoiding the Dell PSU because it is most likely the reason I'm having the Amber light issue to begin with. Of course it's somewhat difficult to find a compatible PSU. Someone in a different thread suggested a Rocketfish RF-500WPS2, but my local bestbuy is out of them at the moment, and it costs over $70. I did find a RF-550WPS on ebay, but I'm not sure if it's a comparably model.

Thanks! Yeah, I was just inspecting my case (taking some things apart) and noticed it's an open back. Maybe I'll just focus on getting a highly rated PSU with the specifications you mentioned. Thanks again.

Those links were for 3 different, but compatible, PSU for the E510. They can't all be bad, or at least I hope not!
Anyway, I figured Bev would have the right answers... :emotion-21:

Just a quick update. I ended up purchasing the Cooler Master PSU that I linked to in my original post.
Success! :emotion-2:
Not only is this model a perfect fit for the E510 (though, as Bev mentioned, it seems pretty much any ATX PSU with a 24 pin or 20 + 4 pin connector will work), it also has fixed my "amber light of death" problem.
I installed it today and have left the computer off for a while, then turned it back on, and it has started up every time, no flashing amber light to be seen.
