Optiplex GX280 SFF .... How do I remove Heatsink from CPU?

Hello,

I want to remove the heatsink assembly from the CPU and motherboard of my Dell Optiplex GX280 Small Form Factor Desktop PC.

The Dell documentation for disassembly seems to be inaccurate, as my heatsink assembly is not the same as that illustrated.

CPU is P4 3.0Ghz HT. I'm more used to rebuilding AMD CPU based systems, so am a bit lost on a P4 system.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Ted

there are 2 green locks on the side of heatsink and fan

you can squeeze the green tab sticking out of  these locks to dislodge them from the locking holes.

the green lock on the side of the heatsink is the easiest to remove. The inner one all u have to do is dislodge it from the locking holes.

Once u remove the outer green lock and dislodged the inner one, gently pull the black holder tab on the oustide edge and pull the heatsink upwards on that side.

If you rotate the heatsinkupwards  with the inndereadge as its fulcrum , the heatsink with slie out nice and gentle.

I inherited two of this, what cpu do they take?? LLG775?? P4 630's?
