Previous attempts at booting system have failed at checkpoint ( time) ( usb0) ( usb1)

Help: As a homeworker i emailed my boss to say  work will be completed by Monday( its Friday pm)

To my Horror , my Dimension 8300 windows pro freezes at the bios, now it reads "Previous attempts at booting system have failed at checkpoint ( time) . Incidently, before i am sure it said USBo and later usb1

There is one beep short

 The lights are

 green, orange orange green

I ahve taken out all USB  leads etc and still the same

What can I do and if you are in the UK what number do I phone to get my machine repaired without having to strip it all down. I am not an engineer

Re: Previous attempts at booting system have failed at checkpoint ( time) ( usb0) ( usb1)

Its dimension 8300 with 120 gig SATA

 But the situation now gets  very strange;

It started to boot up with "windows root/system 32/hal.dll missing /corrupt"

Trying for 10 minutes on safe mode. last good install etc options didnt work. I waityed 20 minutes and hey it worked. Only to close it down to fit the mouse and I am back to windows root hal.dll missing etc

Is it the fan? causing overheating?

Green Yellow Yellow Green is not a documented code for your system:

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim8300/sm/adtshoot.htm

for the missing hal.dll error, see the following:

Try using your resource cd  Hit F-12 at the Dell Splash screen, boot to cd and see if you can repair.... If you can't get that far hit ctrl-alt-D at the splash screen and see if the diags will run on the drive...

Thanks. very strange

I saw on a google web search that the error codes/ missing bits menat that therewas a memory module problem

I had bought a pair of  memory modules from Crucial and took thse out. Hey guess what it worked:

Hey all those whohelped thank you
