Problem with drivers on an XPS One with a clean install of Vista.
I did a fresh install of Vista on an XPS ONE ( a 2010 ) and did not install the drivers in the correct order. Everything worked except both networking cards. After reading other posts I tried everything to remedy the problem to no avail. I did a format and a clean install to start over and following directions try to install the dell utilities file first (Dell Support Center, v.DSC 2 Patch 2.1 Build 2.1.08060, A07) this is R 180808-3 .exe I put this on the desktop via a flash drive and try to run this file and it pops open for a half a second then closes. I don't want to proceed with the next chipset drivers because of other issues from before. Anybody got any ideas what my problem is. A new download of this file didn't help so not likely corrupt.

You don't want Dell Support Centre (which is obsolete and replaced by My Dell). Install the following:
Dell System Software: http://ftp.dell.com/FOLDER88644M/9/Dell_System-Software_A06_R282536.exe
Proximity Sensor Driver: http://ftp.dell.com/utility/R168233.exe
Then you want the Intel Chipset Drivers: http://ftp.dell.com/chipset/R166551.EXE, http://ftp.dell.com/chipset/R168678.EXE, http://ftp.dell.com/chipset/R176601.EXE
Then the Card Reader and Multimedia Buttons: http://ftp.dell.com/chipset/R166556.exe, http://ftp.dell.com/chipset/R182913.EXE
Intel Video: http://ftp.dell.com/video/R168679.EXE or AMD/ATI Video: http://ftp.dell.com/video/R177800.EXE
Touchpad: http://ftp.dell.com/input/R167301.exe
Then the audio: http://ftp.dell.com/audio/R177802.EXE
Webcam: http://ftp.dell.com/input/R165861.EXE
Ethernet: http://ftp.dell.com/network/R166557.EXE, http://ftp.dell.com/network/R166558.EXE
Wireless Card: http://ftp.dell.com/network/R174159.exe
Bluetooth: http://ftp.dell.com/network/R169011.EXE

Thanks for the help, this explains a lot. That was probably most of my problem to begin with. Now utilities unpacked and loaded like it is supposed to but it tells me this Microsoft Windows service pack is not supported. I guess now to see if I can download the service pack and update windows without logging on with this system. Did I mention Vista is not my favorite OS?

Download the following as standalone updates and then install in order. After the standalone updates install the system drivers in the order I listed above. For more details see Windows Reinstallation Guide/A Clean Install of Windows Vista:
