SD 13-1 media card reader in Dell Dimension 5150

Hi all.  Just changed camera and now have to use SDHC card (4GB class 6).  My 13 - 1 card reader in my Dell Dimension 5150 reads 2GB SD card but even though the green light comes on I can get no further with computer/programs recognising the SDHC 4GB card. MY OS is Windows XPMedia center (believe this equates to XP professional?)

I have tried to find out what card reader is fitted but am unable to find any detail. (is it a TEAC CA200 HH??). If it is then it looks like R175239 would be the information to make the reader read SDHC.

There is also a windows hotfix (923293) which seems to add support for SDHC memory cards for windows XP.

Am much confused now and dare not try anything until a fix is confirmed as I am not high up on computer knowledge and do not want to put on a problem that I would not know how to fix.

Would greatly appreciate a simple answer with minimum of tech-speak and possible step by step how-to-fix.

Am finding Dell very difficult for finding out information/help. Am I alone in this??

You may need to update the firmware.  However DEINSTALL ANY ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE before you try it.  Update the firmware and driver. Then reinstall antivirus software.
