The device, \Device\Harddisk0\D, has a bad block.

Hi,

I intermittantly get the following error:
The device, \Device\Harddisk0\D, has a bad block. [ IO_ERR_BAD_BLOCK in EVent Viewer]
It appears to happen at the same time [0600].
The system then reboots....

I did some investigation:
1. Ran CHECKDISK on both disks: [C: and F:] THis worked fine and reported no disk errors.
2. Looked for device 'D', but this is a DVD?!

Whats going on?

PS> I have a DIMENSION 4300.

Thanks
Terry

Run the Dell diagnostics on the hard drive.

The bios does not see the F hard drive as F. It sees it as D. Run CHKDSK  /Fix (or chkdsk  /r) on drive F as well as drive C.
