Third monitor on XPS 8500?
XPS 8500, 16GB ram, 64 bit. Current video card AMD Radeon HD 7570. Two monitors.
Considering buying a Wacom Cintiq interactive pen display, which is effectively a third monitor.
At work on my Dell I have three monitors and this appears to be due to having two video cards fitted. So I considered buying another (additional) 7570 but thought I'd have a look inside first.
Looks like there is only room for one video card on my machine? Doesn't seem to be any compatible expansion slots?
Do I need to buy a completely different video card that will give me three monitor capability? I need to have two HDMI inputs, one for one of my current monitors and one for the Cintiq.
Thanks for any suggestions!

You can have as many monitors as you have video ports.

Umm, yes?
It has two ports of the present video card. So my question is:
Do I need to buy a completely different video card that will give me three monitor capability? I need to have two HDMI inputs, one for one of my current monitors and one for the Cintiq.

I think the easiest thing to do is get a PCIe x1 video card locally that has an HDMI port to use in conjunction with the AMD Radeon HD 7570 in the PCIe x16 slot. The XPS 8500 has three PCIe x1 slots.

Thanks for that.
Can you recommend a PCIe x1 video card that is compatible with the HD 7570 and the rest of the system?

Not officially since Dell never tested it. In my previous post I referenced an AMD Radeon video card to match the AMD HD 7570.

I've ordered a PCIe x1 card. Is it plug & play? Will Windows (7) load the correct drivers?
I'm concerned that there are two video cards needing two different sets of drivers?
Or will it all work fine together?

If you bought another AMD Radeon, it should use the existing AMD Radeon drivers you currently have installed.

Thanks for that. Yes, it is another Radeon. It's arrived now, so I shall report back after it's installed.

No luck. The PC will not boot up with the new video card fitted.
Keeping the original Radeon HD 7570. Fitted in the next slot the new Radeon R5 230.
PC won't boot.
Remove new card. PC boots up.
Any ideas?

Ok, Sad to learn that a PCIe x1 video card cannot function with the PCIe x16 video card. I guess the PCIe x1 slots can only be used for non-bootable devices. You are going to have to look around for a single PCIe x16 video card that supports tri-monitor.
