Upgrade to a dual or better processor Dimension 2400 and/or Inspiron B120
I need to upgrade my processor on my Dimension 2400 from a Intel (R) Celeron (R) CPU 2.40 GHz 2.39 GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM. Apparently this is a single processor, I need a dual or better. Please let me know how I can do so if this is possible. Is there a list of compatible processors so I can try to locate one online or somewhere else?
I also need the same thing for my laptop. It is a Inspiron B120 Intel (R) Celeron (R) processor 1.40 GHz 1.06 GHz 1.99 GB of RAM. A list of compatible ones and possible a website I can purchase them from.
Thanks so much in advance!!!

You'd have to change the mainboard and memory along with the CPU. In addition, you'd have to add a third-party IDE card like this.
ASRock makes a nice budget 1155 mainboard with USB 3.0 and SATA 6gbps.

The Dimension 2400 does not support any dual core processors, single core only.
The 2400 can use either 400MHz or 533MHz, Socket 478, P-4 processors with a 512k or smaller cache.
The maximum size is a Northwood P4 3.06GHz 533MHz FSB processor.
The 2400 will not take Prescott processors [1mb cache].
Mobile P4 processors cannot be use in the Dimension 2400.
A good site for Socket 478 processors, is HERE.
The only list of processors Dell has available for the Dimension 2400, is HERE <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>
Regards to the Inspiron B120, it's best to post this in the Laptop forum HERE, this one is for Desktop Hardware.
