What is the Maximum RAM an XPS 8500 can handle?

I have a new XPS 8500 that came with 8GB of RAM in two of it's 4 slots.

I'd like to add two more 8GB strips in the remaining two slots for a total of 24GB of RAM.  The processor is an Intel i7 and I'm using the standard issue of Windows 8 (64bit).

I know the architecture can handle that much RAM.   It is Windows that limits the total amount of RAM that can be installed.  Does anyone know what the standard home issue of WIndows 8 will allow for maximum RAM?  I haven't been able to find a clear answer to this yet.

Hi K-Tune,

The XPS 8500 supports up to a maximum of 32 GB memory.  XPS 8500 has 4x 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM Slots which support Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM up to 1600 MHz . If the system has two 4GB memory modules and two 8GB memory modules, ensure the memory speed remains the same for all  the four modules. Second option would be install four 6GB modules to make it 24GB.

Dell Part number for 8GB memory: 66GKY
