Intel® Matrix Storage Technology. That's standard to the Intel X38 chipset that the 420 uses. Or, if that's not specifically what you're looking for, go here:

By the way, it's the ICH9R (82801IR).

Anyone know where to find the correct Intel Matrix Manager for the XPS 420 (x38 chipset)?

Here's the Dell driver:

Here's the Intel version, not sure if it's newer/better than the Dell version:

That version doesn't support the x38 chipset... at least on my new XPS 420 it says 'Invalid hardware'.

if you are applying this on a reinstall you proably need this driver...

I believe you need to first extact all the files and then copy the files to the ROOT directory of a floppy disk or USB drive in order to install them....

I assume I need to update the SCSI/RAID Host Controller in Device Manager?  If so, this doesn't work... 'Windows could not find a driver software for your device.'  I tried putting this in the root of a USB drive and same message...

This is a brand new XPS 420... I was just trying to follow the instructions on page 38 of the owners manual to run the Intel Matrix Manager software and found that it wasn't installed!  XPS Support tried to give me two different versions but both of them say that it doesn't support my hardware.  Any advice is appreciated.

so you are trying to convet to a Raid setup...you should proably post a new thread with that issue
There are some others with 420 who have more knowledge of that..

I've given up on the RAID setup.  Now I just want to get the correct Intel Matrix drivers installed.  It seems that none exist for the x38 chipset.
