Will an EVGA GTX 1050 Ti SC video card upgrade work with my Dell Inspiron 3847?

The video card I was interested in:

www.amazon.com/.../ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza

My current specs from Speccy if that would be useful to anyone:

Operating System
Windows 10 Home 64-bit

CPU
Intel Core i5 4460 @ 3.20GHz 26 °C
Haswell 22nm Technology

RAM
12.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-11-28)

Motherboard
Dell Inc. 088DT1 (CPU 1) 28 °C

Graphics
DELL S2340L (1920x1080@60Hz)
Intel HD Graphics 4600 (Dell)

Storage
931GB TOSHIBA DT01ACA100 (SATA) 36 °C

Optical Drives
HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GHB0N

Audio
Realtek High Definition Audio

I'm using the power supply that came with the computer (I assume 300W?) along with the above specs. So my question is will this video card upgrade work with my Dell Inspiron 3847? And if so, will I need a new power supply, or can I keep the one that came with the computer? If this upgrade isn't realistic, then a recommendation for the right direction to go towards would be appreciated as I am very new to messing with computer hardware/building or upgrading a computer.

I heard that the size of the video card could be a problem for the Dell Inspiron 3847, but this one is only 1.5 x 5.7 x 4.38 inches according to Amazon, so I'm pretty sure it is small enough for the case.

If anyone can help a newbie out then that would be greatly appreciated. If I am missing any details that are needed so you can help me I will try to provide with those if I can.

instawin,

The motherboard has only the following slots for adding cards.

1 PCI Express x1 Two 36-pin connectors
1 PCI Express x16 One 164-pin connector

Thank you for the reply, Jesse (and sorry for the late reply on my part). Excuse my ignorance, but would that mean the video card mentioned in my OP is compatible? And would it be okay for me to use the stock power supply for this upgrade? Just want this confirmed as I don't know a lot about this stuff. I appreciate your patience with me.

The card you linked is not too long and its a 75W card.  The only issue that might show up is that you have to turn off secure boot and turn on CSM.  If you choose a card that has aux 6 pin or 8 pin or more power then you need to update the power supply.

Works fine in a 3847.  HOWEVER Secure Boot must be OFF and Legacy CSM must be on.

You cant go by the CARD GPU Model number however.

ONLY Mini ITX SHORT Versions of the card work.

10 to 12 inch versions with 2 or 3 fans WILL NOT Physically fit inside a 3847.

So you need to look for the ZOTAC or EVGA GTX 1050TI 4 gig MINI versions.

Did you ever get this video card to work.

I have the EXACT same Dell Inspiron 3847,  and I just tried installing the same video card (EVGA Geforce GTX 1050 TI SC (single fan).

It fits perfectly, but I can't get it to work with my Dell S2240T Monitor.  The screen goes into power saving mode, and that is it.

I even change BIOS setting to Secure Boot (off) which enables Legacy CSM as SpeedStep suggested.

It should be real simple.  Am I missing something?

I was wondering about this also, and is a PSU upgrade also recommended,ie: Corsair 500 W(saw YouTube video on this),,,,,,?

Zotac,vs Evga?

Is there a compatible video card, whereby turning off secure boot is not necessary?

I have a 3847 and the Zotac and it works fine.  Also works in inspiron 3650 and several other models just fine.

"Is there a compatible video card, whereby turning off secure boot is not necessary?"
NO There is NOT.  This setting is true for ALL New cards.
