XPS 8500 Audio
I have recently purchased an XPS 8500 but did not get any external speaker system as I thought I would use my Creative one. Alas that did not work as the system died before I could hook it all up. Anyone offer an alternatve external decoder system with 5.1 or 7.1 capability which I can just plug into the back of the XPS 8500?

Hi Jeff,
XPS 8500 is offered with a rear integrated 7.1 channel Audio ports and S/PDIF (Sony/Philips Digital Interconnect) port. The integrated Audio ports are automatically disabled when a cable is connected in the S/PDIF port.
To assist you further I would like to know if you trying to buy a new set of 5.1 or 7.1 speakers that are compatible with XPS 8500 or are you looking for an external decoder to connect the speakers with S/PDIF ports.
Please reply for further help.

I am looking to purchase a new set of 5.1/7.1 speakers (sub woofer the whole 9 yards) which are compatible.
