XPS 2720, LCD changed, double image
Hi, I have dell xps 2720 with touch screen. I changed the LCD scree with new one. But now when I start the machine there is double image side by side. My screen is split in half in vertical and there is the same image on the left and on the right .
What is the problem? Did I miss some cable. Actually there are two LVCD cables that are connected to the motherboard and there is another one which connects to the Converter Board.

What version of Windows?
It sounds like you may have split the screen. Can you close one of the windows? Have you looked in the Windows Display settings to see if there's a split screen option and disabling it?
Or maybe you need to update the chipset and video drivers to the latest versions for your specific hardware...

Hi, my screen is split in vertical by half, so when i start the PC i have the DELL logo two times one on the left and one in the right. So the problem is not in Windows, because i am not working in the OS.
I changed the LCD panel with the converter board and the problem is the same, but with the old LCD panel this problem is gone.
Whta could be the problem i think i just need to connect the Dell engineer team so they can tell me in which part exactly is the problem.
I don't believe the problem is in the LVDS cable cause it works with the old LCD panel.
Also BIST test is OK, ePSA is OK.

If the new screen is identical to the original, it's defective.
If it's not, it's not compatible with your system. Does the BIOS screen identify it by resolution? If not, it's not having its EDID read by the system -- and isn't compatible.

This is the second screen that was sent to me. I was asked to send a picture of the serial number of my old screen and the new one to compare them. And now i have the same issue. As i am suppose to do i changed the LCD panel and the Converter board and when i turned system on there was no image at all, but the system was running. I get confused i thought i missed to connect some cable so i double checked the cables and after 3th attempt the system showed me this double image.
All this situation happened with these 2 LCD screens which looked to me to be brand new judging on the packaging.
I just want to check if i did something wrong. This is why i am writing in this forum to find the reason why this happen and if i miss something to do right.
By the way i forgot to tell you why i am changing the LCD panel. The reason is that with the old one the image was normal, but suddenly the image disappear for 5 seconds and suddenly comes again. If i use the system with another display there was no problem. But when i use my LCD panel connected to another PC (there is a HDMI in interface) the problem appears again.

Are these screens coming from Dell, or a third party supplier? If the latter, do they have Dell part numbers on the back of them?

Yes, they are from DELL. I think they have such part numbers on the back.

Hi, we found the problem. It is in the current motherboard. The revision is not compatible with those LCD displays, so now I am waiting for a new system board. I will inform you at the end of the repair if everything is OK.
