stop: d0000144 unknown hard error

Once in a while my new Dimension 4600 makes a strange sound and the system freezes just for a few seconds. Sounds like the harddisk. Next to that I had two times a blue screen with the message "stop: d0000144 unknown hard error", after powerdown the system starts normally. Dell Diagnostics don't see anything abnormal, any idea what the problem could be except for a faulty harddrive?

New computer means you should call Dell for troubleshooting. This is one resource I found: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;832324&Product=winxp Not exactly your problem, but might point you in the right direction. But call Dell asap.

I have an 9200 and also gets BSOD: D0000144 on boot.

tried to get into windows with safemode and last-good-known-configuration but still i get BSOD.

any one know what this BSOD IS or why starts them!?

I had this problem years ago, was due to a faulty harddisk, got it replaced by Dell and problem never reoccurred.
