Clarion Specialist Level exam

Hello Team,

In the clarion specialist exam , i have some confusion....... As i can see clarion specialist for implementation engineer (E20-340) and clarion specialist for system engineer (E20-522) .. I am planing to do a specialist exam for clarion. So please explain what is the difference comes in above those exams.  Can some can suggest which exam is better to entroll and details.

With regards

When I am right the E20-340 is for Partners.

I do not now the details but if you go for the specialist exam and you are not a partner, E20-522 is the way to go.

The difference between the two exams is as follows:

E20-340 - Is the exam for CLARiiON Solutions Specialist Exam for Implementation Engineers (E20-340). This exam focuses on the knowledge and activities involved in implementing CLARiiON SAN solutions in heterogeneous open systems environments. This includes implementing and configuring SnapView, MirrorView and SAN Copy solutions and using the Navisphere application suite to monitor CLARiiON environments. (Open to Partners and Internal EMC responsible for implementing and configuration of a CLARiiON environment)

E20-522 - Is the exam for the CLARiiON Solutions Specialist Exam for Storage Administrators. This exam focuses on the configuration, management, and administration of CLARiiON arrays in heterogeneous open systems SAN environments.  In addition, this exam covers assessing and architecting CLARiiON solutions and integrating local and remote replication technologies to provide data mobility and business continuity capabilities. (Open to admistrators of a CLARiiON environment)

Hello -

I'm not sure if you are a customer, partner or employee so I have supplied the instructions for customers.

When choosing a track or preparing for an exam you should always use the information posted on the education portal as a guide.

For information on the EMC Proven Professional Program: for practice test, exam descriptions and recommended study materials.

Log into the Education Portal  (http://education.emc.com)

Click on EMC Proven Professional Certification

Select Certification

Select Certification Framework (found on the left hand side or middle of the page)

Click on the Track you are pursuing (i.e. Storage Administrator)

Click on the Specialty you wish to pursue within the track (i.e.CLARiiON Solutions, Symmetrix BC)

Once you choose a track and access the exam description PDF you will have a listing of all of the recommened study materials and pricing which varies by course type and venue.

Note - exams are available at Pearson VUE testing centers at a cost of $200 dollars per sitting.

Best regards,
Debi

Sushin, while Ed has given a very formal and official looking answer, let  me chip in with my two cents here.
First of all don't get confused with the exam numbering system. A Lower  number like 340 does not mean that it is a lower level exam than a 522.
Follow these general rules (I am sure there will be  exceptions):
Your first 1-3 years of your Storage life will most likely be as a Storage  Administrator. This is where the Exam E20-522 (and then the E20-822) will come in  handy.
You can also choose to become a Clariion Platform Engineer and take the E20-611  exam. These are usually people who work at the Data center and are responsible  for Hardware maintenance and support issues of the Clariion box.
With a few years of admin experience you can transition into implementation  role. These are people who will set up a new array and get it up and running and  migrate any data from the older array or migrate data from a different vendors  product or set up the replication infrastructure etc etc. They may also be involved in pre-sales support. More often than  not these people will be employed with EMC's partners who are reselling EMC's  products. This is usually where the E20-340 and E20-850 exams comes into play.
So to summarize, and like teovmy suggested, I think you should opt for  E20-522.
Gvadivel, I almost burst out laughing when I read your question i.e if EMC  provided any free material or training. That was funny indeed. The only course  for which EMC has (lets say) subsidized the training, is for the E20-001 exam.  For $500 you can get the complete videos, the ISM book and an exam voucher.  Sadly, their generosity ends with this course. For  all other courses you need to shell out some serious bucks.
To Ed, just out of curiosity, What does the 20 in E20 stand for?

Hello –

The “20” in E20 is an internal designation that identifies the exam as part of the Proven program.

It is a number that was used by a testing vendor, it is no longer significant.
