EMC Proven Professional EMCDCA exam

So i have just taken the exam this morning and not passed!.  How come EMC don't provide a calculator for this exam?  There were at least half a dozen questions that required the use of a calcluator.   This surely makes a diffrence between pssing and failing the exam.  Most exams will have the calculator symbol ehan a calculator is required.

The two DCA exams are the E20-026 Enterprise Storage Networking Specialist Exam for Data Center Architects and the E20-027 Enterprise Backup Recovery Design Exam for Data Center Architects. The 027 exam has always had a calculator available for all questions (whether needed or not). However, we discovered the omission of a calculator on the 026 exam. This issue has been resolved and is being re-published with a calculator available for all questions (whether needed or not). Thank you for your feedback and support of the Proven Professional Program.

I'm sorry to hear you had difficulty with this. I'm going to pass your feedback on to the appropriate team for review.

Did you try the practice test before you sat for them exam at all?

Hi,

I agree that EMCDCA does require a calculator for certain questions. However, I have not appeared nor taken practice test for this cert. However, having said that I have given other certs where there was a calculator and there are times there wasn't!

Well, it happens at time vendor to vendor. It is good that you have put through your concern to right forum but just in case for your future reference, if you ever come across this situation again. You may ask for

- Water

- Whiteboard and Marker

- Simple Calculator from PearsonVUE. (regardless of the vendor you are appearing cert for EMC, Cisco.....)

Pearsson Vue will not supply Calculators, they need to be added to the questions.

We tested this at EMC World this year. and at a real testing centre.

the problem with missing calculators also appears on the VNX IE Expert level exam, and for this exam I raised the issue more than a year ago, and it was still not fixed during EMC World 2013.

And the math you need to do in your head for that exam is quite difficult, and rather large numbers, but the worst is that it steals a lot of time.

In that case, my PearsonVUE center (where I usually give all my cert) I got lucky!

Well, I am sure Kate will engage right people and get this fixed at the earliest.

Yes, took the practices test.  I also went for the VILT training. Trying to calclute by hand is not something you would do in rela life so i was a little surprised.  It also cost me some time as a result.

you do get a piece of paper, right? So do the math on paper! 3rd best option can only be in your head, but on paper shouldn't be that hard.

That's great news! But you don't say when the calclutors will be added to the exam.  I am looking to retake in a few weeks time. can you shed some light on the when this is going to happen?

also,  I feel the calculator issue cost me the exam,  are you able to thow in vouchers so i can retake?

If you explain your situation to the EMCProvenHelpDesk@emc.com they might be able to address the voucher issue.

Hi Denis,

I have emailed EMCProvenHelpDesk@emc.com a month back with the similar type of issue (Not CalC related but questions related but its been month that I have not got any update! Could you please, look in to that?! If answers for the exams are incorrect and the Questions are repeating, it can't be students fault! This is the reference number I have received from the Help Desk: ref:_00D70JrBz._50070TvrXR:ref

Dennis,

Update:

I was contacted by Leah. He informed, he had  CLARiiON subject matter expert (SME) verify the issue(s) you raised. SME did in fact discover two questions that were variants of one another. This issue is now being corrected. EMC should have the corrections to the 611 exam made and re-published within the next couple of weeks in the event if I want to re-take the exam. (Which I do)

So if any one is planning for 611, it would be wise to wait for at least 2-3 weeks.
