We are fully qualified with Powerpath and many other MPIO stacks. Feel free to check our ESSM matrix.

Arindam, Itzik or Miroslav,

Someone emailed me person and I want to give the correct answer while adding it to this discussion as well.

This was the question:

Chris,

Can you ask or if you know, can an XtremIO system be part of a VMAX federated external array configuration?

I want to be sure I answer this correctly and give others to view as well. Thank you in advance.

Thanks — it sounds like just one will be 5U and the rest 6U, what about when you expand to 8 X-Bricks; same form factor?

Hi, we fully support PP/VE

So the sub 25 capacity in the reference architecture (I think it was 1.9 TB) was special, I'll always have 7.47TB per X-Brick, correct?

The keynote mentioned PowerPath -- does it support, use, require PowerPath/VE?

Here are the configurations

1 X-Brick system = 6U

2 X-Brick system = 13U

4 X-Brick system = 23U

Hi, garydarcher

Remember, if you have a physical XMS Management Server, then the first X-Brick would need 7U (Most use virtual so no need for additional 1U). Also as you add bricks you add IB switches (only 2 regardless of brick #s) and Battery Backup Units that change the rack space as well depending on cluster size.

Arindam Paul and Miroslav Klivansky, please feel free to add anything.

When 8 X-Bricks are supported we'll have the same building blocks i.e. 43U. +1 for physical XMS server if you'd like to have that.

Can I order a different capacity X-Brick or alway 25 drives per DAE?

Which RA ? Every X-Brick has 7.47TiB usable. Anything else is not correct.

In the Q&A of the keynote the responder said 1 X-Brick was 6U and 2-4 would be 5U each but the EMC Forum slide deck shows 22U for 4 not 21 -- can you clarify?

Its always 25 SSDs per X-Brick. There are no plans to provide ½ of a X-Brick or fractional DAEs at this time.

Hi Gary, the Building block is always a shelf of 25 eMLC drives with two controllers.
