ASM or Group Manager GUI for Hpyer-V replication
Hi,
I'm abit cofused about the difference between setting up replication in the SAN gui Or in the ASM tool.
What's the difference. I want to replicate my Hpyer-v hosts, all vhd's are stored on the SAN Luns.
I am running core

Will the san gui replication work with vhd's- does it understand that there are changes inside thevhd file?

Hello,
Let me answer your 2nd question first. I need to do a little research on ASM/ME with CSV volumes and replication.
Regarding replicating from the EQL GUI. You can replicate ANY filesystem using the EQL GUI. Replication and snapshots don't care about file systems. The array see blocks that have been modified.
So the short version is that ANY data that's in the array cache or already on disk will be included in a snapshot or replica.
The benefit of using ASM/ME is that before a replication or snapshot, the OS is asked to flush any pending writes to the array. So the snapshot or replica will be more consistent using ASM.
