Hello,

There is no command.  Once the new battery is installed it should reset itself.  Doesn't sound like a new battery is my guess.

You can get standard support for 7 years after ship date or Post Standard Support for 12 years.  Both now include firmware updates for array and drives.

 Just something to consider.

Hello,

I can't read the date codes on these batteries.  Where did you get the replacement unit?   I suspect this array is not under contract?

Don,
Thanks for the reply.

Yes, Out of warranty, and the battery buy from third party.

I check the battery replacement only remove the secondary control module and replace the battery, after that, reinsert the control module.

the replacement step is right? after the replacement need to active the slot 0 for battery relearn? have command to manually relearn the battery?

I checked the POW (Parts only Warranty) has expired, so I want to replace the battery myself, anyway, I try to buy a new battery again.

We bought 2 batteries directly from Dell two time in the last year for different EQLs which runs out of support.

Where did you get the batteries from? I have tried 3 different companies and all 3 sent me batteries that would not get rid of the 90% depleted? All 3 took them back.

Its not as simple as just replacing the super caps, the board has dates on them.

im sure alot of the batteries people are buying havent had the dates changed after the supercap was.

They have a 5 year limit.

Hello,

On the 4210/6210/6610 models, the cache battery is not using capacitors. It's a rechargeable battery that has an interface board.  When the battery life gets near, at 90% the battery is flagged as needing to be replaced.

The entire battery sub assembly must be replaced.

correct, but im sure the board is programmed when to say they are going to fail, 3 months before 5 years from when it was manufactured/refurbished.

unless the cells do have a fault before that date.

Hello,

No, I don't believe that is the case at all.  Since if it sat on the shelf for a year you would only automatically only have four years of battery life.   Many parameters of the batteries are tracked including the number of times they are refreshed or cycled.

I can confirm that EXACTLY 3 months after I got the first end of life warning I got the depleted warning.   and yes, all 3rd party batteries I found were NOT good.   fake from china;  bad.    I ended up calling Dell and buying straight from Dell (should have done that in the first place!)
