PS6000 - New Disk needed

Hello,

one of the disks in our Dell PS6000 told us it has a failure.

To reduce the risk, we want to replace it.

The current used Disk (Seagate ST31000340NS) are EOL

Which kind of Disks we could use, because we think this disks needs a special Dell-Branded Firmware.

Thank you

Uwe

Hello,

No unlock code at all.  It's hard coded in the firmware itself.  Non EQL drives will be flagged and unused.

Hello Uwe,

It's very likely that you will need an EQL branded drive.  If so, then you'll need to find a used one online. like Ebay or Amazon.

Hello Don,

thank you for your answer.

Is there no way to tell the storage to accept non-branded drives?

Like a "unlock-code" for mobiles to use SIMs from other Providers.

Yeah sorry.

There are a few out there, from pulls.   You can also try a non Dell drive.  doesn't hurt anything just might not work.

Hello Don,

that's sad.

That means we have 36kg of scrap in our Rack.

Thank you for your help!

Try here. Looks like they have Dell branded in stock.

Hello,

The PS6100 will only work with Dell PS Branded drives.   On those newer generation models, require the Dell drives.  Standard OEM drives will not work.
