Trouble booting from PS4000x
I have an R610 and PS4000x SAN and I am trying to configure the server(s) to boot from the SAN. I have been through the manuals and guides until I was dizzy and I can help think I am missing something.
For testing purposes I have removed CHAP and authentication, but also had it on. When the server booted and tried to contact the SAN i could see the volume populate with the initiator information, but then I get an error on the server that it failed to connect to the ip address. I have used the group address as is in the instructions and also the member address with the same results.
Something that bothers me is in the configuration for the Broadcom 5709 it asks for the LUN, however in the PS4000x it uses volumes. The manuals say don't change it so I left it. Also I didn't see the port number on the SAN but it is listed and I left it at the default 3260.
Again it just feels like i'm missing some detail and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I needed to take a break from it today so I am back at it tomorrow morning.
Interconnect for the SAN network is with Dell 6224 switches. I am using a dedicated switching for the SAN and another for the LAN using the management port. I will be configuring replication using the 2nd network port to a 2nd array, but right now I need to get the servers booting.
This is a completely new install and I can scrap it and start over if I need to. Once I get the process down and tested then I have other servers to configure.
Thanks,
Vince

I found my problem to be a setting on the switch...silly me did not save the running config to the boot config when I setup the switch...so now it connects and logs in to the target.
Trying to install Windows is another issue :(
