Hello experts,

From your point of view and experiences, what are the main features missing to D2 4.2 in order to have parity with 3.1 version ? What workarounds on 4.2 can we offer to 3.1 users for these features ?

Thank you !

When will D2 support Siteminder for SSO?

March 18th, 2014 23:00

How is the development in this version? Is plugin development well-documented and with a "stable" API available? Although D2 is a configure-only concept client, do you plan to keep improving the development possibilities?

Are workflows integrated with BPM/xCP engine or it still uses it's own engine? any plans (I think I've read before D2 would be converging with xCP2) to unify the workflow engine?

Q:":When will D2 support Siteminder for SSO?"

Hi Elliott,

D2 4.x support Kerberos and SiteMinder supports Kerboros too. In *theory* it should work because SiteMinder is just another IdP, and D2 4.x Kerberos authentication should be able to talk to SiteMinder as an IdP, but we have never tested that confguration.

If you have a business case / opportunity, please reach out to your EMC IIG representative so that we can understand and discuss the requirements in detail.

Hi Alvaro,

Q: "How is the development in this version? Is plugin development well-documented and with a "stable" API available? Although D2 is a configure-only concept client, do you plan to keep improving the development possibilities?"
A: D2 4.x is a major architecture change, delivering browser independence, a modern widget-based user interface, and enhanced extensibility. The D2 4.x architecture also allows customers and partners to tailor the solutions to their respective needs and requirements and to implement the functions they need.  Please refer to the D2 4.2 Developers Guide for an overview of the architecture and extensibility options.

Q:"Are workflows integrated with BPM/xCP engine or it still uses it's own engine? any plans (I think I've read before D2 would be converging with xCP2) to unify the workflow engine?"

A: You can use the BPM/xCP Engine to configure the workflows in the D2, see D2 4.2 Release Note, page 18. We are permanent investigating the future area or opportunities. If you have a business case / opportunity, please reach out to your EMC IIG representative so that we can understand and discuss the requirements in detail.

jeremyprioux  For me the main features (still) missing in D2 4.x are the VD management. In the last release, you have more functionalities but no all the functionalities available in D2 3.X.

For example D2 Advanced Publishing proposes much less features than the former P2 (Publishing Tools).

And what's your thought about this missing features ?

Hello,

Can you elaborate on how the Lockbox functions in a D2 environment and are there any specific use cases that lead to the choice of this product?

Read the below line the Release notes but couldn't make a whole lot of sense maybe a use case would help clarify:

"D2 uses RSA Lockbox to protect passwords and encryption keys against access by remote hosts"

Thank You.

Hi Goran,

This is what I've been told: "Per Product Management, support for Siteminder SSO has not been prioritized at this time."  When will the decisions be made about what goes into the next release?

Thanks

Hello,

I have gathered a few questions with the help of some colleagues:

  1. What is the best way to automatically trigger a Workflow or a Lifecycle on a folder, when that folder is created via Auto Linking.  (Is it even possible without writing a job?)
  2. Is it possible to send an e-mail with multiple attachments from D2 Client?  Is it possible to automatically send an e-mail with multiple attachments?  For example: When a lifecycle on a folder changes states, a notification e-mail can be triggered.  Can that notification email also include multiple attachments?
  3. Can you give a couple of examples of when the "External Task" tab for a manual workflow activity would be used?  Documentation is unclear.

Thank you!

We're currently using Webtop 6.7SP2 and looking to move to D2 4.2.  What features in Webtop aren't currrently available in D2?  What issues do we have to be careful of when we transition to D2?

Thanks

@plasher :

I just need some explanations about your needs ? Workflow and Lifecycle on Folder is not a typical use case with D2. May be you should consider using Virtual Document ?

Hi Surya,

the RSA Lockbox is a software-specific (can be hardware too) encrypted repository that securely stores passwords and and other sensitive key manager configuration information. It is part or RSA Common Security Toolkit (CST) which is EMC internally implementation of RSA BSAFE(R) Share for Java Platform, see RSA BSAFE(R) Share for JavaTM Platform.

The EMC implementation of RSA BSAFE(R) enabling technology is intended for inclusion in EMC products allowing these products to meet the security requirements of our customers and to deliver differentiation through security. The CST libraries provide language-specific (C, C++, and Java) and platform-specific interfaces to a set of security services including authentication, authorization (role management), accountability (logging), cryptography, key management and secret protection which can be integrated by EMC product teams.

Our intent is to send a work package (multiple documents at a time) through a workflow, which is one reason why the folder is being utilized.
