HIT ASM 4.0.0 Windows disconnected
I just upgraded a bunch of my windows 2003 hosts from HIT 3.5.1 to 4.0.0. I have one host however that refuses to connect to itself within ASM. It just tries connecting and then gives the message:
The host is currently disconnected. Please check that the agent service (EqlASMAgent) is currently running on host #hostname# and a firewall is not blocking the connection to port 7569.
This service is running, windows firewall is not running, there is no anti-virus installed. I can telnet to port 7569 from the local machine as well as from other servers. I can see the EqlASMApp.exe process connecting to 127.0.0.1:7569 when ASM launches. I uninstalled HIT, rebooted and reinstalled HIT then rebooted again. The ASM still cannot collect to itself on the local server or from another server.
I am not seeing any unusual messages in the event log, and I am not seeing any application logs for ASM to look at.
Anyone else seen this or have any suggestions?

See if this helps, these steps are to try to get ASM/ME up in the “default” state, without having to restart the host server:
1. Make sure ASM/ME is not already loaded, if it is, please close the tool
2. Move the *bcd files which are the schedules and SmartCopy information out of the way to a safe location (default location is):
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\EqualLogic\EQL*VSS*
Please move the file to a different temporary location, so you could retrieve them at a later date if you cannot redo/rebuild your schedules from scratch
3.Then go to a Windows command prompt and type the following:
cmd> net stop vss
cmd> net stop eqlvss
cmd> net start vss
cmd> net start eqlvss
4. Now open ASM/ME and it should load without any issues and/or pre-stored information
5. At this point you can recreate your schedules and SmartCopies, if you can’t rebuild your schedules you can try to copy back the *bcd files in the directory you moved them from.
If this doesn’t clear up the problem, I would suggest that you contact support to open a case with them.
If you need to contact support, if you can create the debugging log file first:
The EqlLog utility is located under the default installation folder, or the folder that you specified for HIT during installation. The default folder is: C:\Program Files\EqualLogic\bin. To run the utility:
1. Click Start, then Run. Type cmd
2. In the command window, change the directory to C:\Program Files\EqualLogic\bin
3. Enter eqllog -s
The utility will gather trace logs and system information, and place them in a timestamped zip file, located in the My Documents folder.
EqlLog Command Line Options
-s, --short
Capture only the last 2 hours of HIT and event logs. This can greatly reduce the size of the data collected.

I installed the Modloader package and I was playing just fine when it crashed and i got an error that said java.lang.NoSuchMethodError.
I checked the FAQ and there was nothing there, any help?

Are you running a backup exec agent on the box too or maybe an NDMP agent? I've noticed a port conflict between HIT and BE Agent when both tried to use port 10000.
Try running netstat -anob to see if 10000 is in use.

Nope, nothing running on 10000.
