MD3660f

Hello

I've inherited a system that includes a PowerVault MD3660f.  In a few months, the office will be without power for several hours, so I'm looking for the correct way to shut the MD3660f down.  So far, I can't seem to find anything definitive about this.

The closest I get is that it will shut down when the host it is connected to will shut down.

Is this correct?  If so, I assume that it will start-up again when the host server is booted?

Thanks for any information you're able to provide

Hello Brian,

The best way to shutdown your MD3660f is the following:

  1. Power off all host that connect to the MD3660f.
  2. Once all the host are powered down then wait about 5 minutes so that any data that is in cache will be written to disk.
  3. Turn off your switches that is connected to the MD3660f
  4. Once that is done then you will want to pull the power cords on the MD 3660f & it will power off.

As for the power up process:

  1. Power on the MD3660f & wait 10 minutes or till it is at a ready state
  2. Power on your switches that connect to your MD3660f if you have not done so already.
  3. Power on the hosts & let them reconnect to the storage once the OS comes up.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
