AC Power Adapter type cannot be determined

I have a Latitude D630 which complains every time I plug in the power adapter.

The specific complaint is:

The AC power adapter type cannont be determined. Your system will  operate slower and the battery will not charge. Please connect a Dell 65W AC adapter or higher for best system operation.

Since the adapter I'm using is a Dell 65W AC adapter, I'm a bit confused as to why I would be receiving this message.

I've tried a 90W adapter from my old D610, but the battery did not charge.

Thank you in advance for any guidance/help!

If a known working (second) adapter didn't work, you've a system board problem - either the power jack or the charging circuit on the board is faulty.

I have a similiar problem. I bought an alternative powersupply (Hama) for use at home which is a 120W one.

But my Vostro 1510 complains that it does not have enough power.

Is there a way to make it accept that powersupply ??
