After Vista SP2 update, Soundblaster X-FI no audio

Vista 32-bit, SP2 updated yesterday through Windows Update. I also updated Creative files.  Now, even though SB X-Fi Extreme Audio Notebook is recognized in the Device Manager and working, I get sound from the PC but not through the sound card.  I can't use my headset either, when connected through the sound card.  Volume is not muted.  I can't even set up my headset because it's not detected through the card.  What's going on and how to fix it?  Nothing appears relevant at the Creative support site.
