Battery will not hold charge.

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000. I left my computer charging last night with 7% battery. This morning, it still only had 7%. I unplugged it, plugged it back in, checked the outlet, and made sure it was plugged in. The computer has the little charging icon which means that it is charging. After hours and hours, it will not hold any charge. Can someone please help me resolve this issue.

Replace the battery with a new one.

I'll second what ejn63 said. Given that you've got a 6000, that means it's probably between 15 and 24 months old. Dell batteries, like any rechargeable battery, wear out from the electro-chemical reactions involved in repeated recharging and aren't meant to last as long as the computer will. This is why Dell only offers 12-month warranties on batteries for portable systems--they're a consumable item.
