Can't see my 5Ghz on my ASUS RT-N66U from my Studio 1558 running Windows 8

I just installed a new router and my laptop can see the 2.4Ghz SID without issue. However, the laptop can not see my the 5Ghz SID even through I have it set to NOT hide the SID. My Samsung S4 can see the 5Ghz SID and connect to it without issue, however, my laptop can't even see that SID.

Now from all I have read my network adapter should be able to see my router's 5Ghz SID without issue.

I have double checked the drivers on my wireless and they are the latest version. I have double checked my firmware on my router and it is the latest version. So why can't my laptop see the 5Ghz SID and how do I resolve this?

Here is the details of my router:

ASUS RT-N66U Gigabit Router Dual-band Wireless N900

My laptop:Dell Studio 1558

Laptop Wireless Adapter: Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter

it should be listed in the original configuration (support.dell.com, enter service tag).

That card  does not support the 5 GHz band - it's a 2.4 GHz only card.

Which wireless card model do you have?  Some, like the DW1501, don't support the 5 GHz band - and if it's original to your system, which is 3+ years old now - yours may be 2.4 GHz only.

How do I find out what model have? I have searched all over my desktop and I can't find any reference to a model at all.

Turns out I have WIRELESS..., BROADCOM CORPORATION...,Half Mini-Card, DW1501, CNB

So it looks like I am out of luck.

Thanks
