Cannot install Windows 8 RP

Hi everyone,

I have just bought Dell Inspiron 15R SE 7520 (the one comes with 1 TB HDD and 32 GB mSATA).

I want to dual boot Windows 8 RP with Windows 7.

Here is my disk partition setup:

I want to install Windows 8 RP to partition F.

However, when I tried to install, after the 1st reboot, I faced the BSOD with the error message: Inaccessible Boot Device.

I changed the BIOS settings of SATA from Intel Smart Response Technology to IDE and the installation went smooth after that. But I noticed that the HDD was very noisy all the time.

And after Windows 8 installation was finished, when I tried to change the BIOS SATA settings back to Intel Smart Response Technology, I could not boot into Windows 8 anymore.

Any help?

minhphuong0401,

I may be wrong, so if other members want to join in, I know there is a limit of partitions you can have on your computer. Can't remember if it's 4 or 5.

I don't think so.

My old laptop has 5 partitions and I can dual boot Win 7 and Win 8 RP with no problem

Hi,

I'm having the same problem, and I'm only using the original dell partitions.

There is a limit of four primary partitions -- which is what shows there.  You will need to delete one to add another.
