Crackling sound

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could solve my problem.... Well anyway, I bought the new Klipsch ProMedia 4.1 speakers to use with my laptop (I know, I should be using them for a desktop).. But I'm having a sound quality problem, whenever I play a song, I hear this slight crackling noise when the music isn't distorted by all of the guitars and such. I have the 1/8 connection connected to a y-adapter, because I don't have 4.1 outputs. But when I plug in the front or rear, I still get the crackling noise. So I know it's not the y-adapter. I currently have the ESS Maestro on an inspiron 8000. Any feedback would help a lot! Thanks

Yes, I did download the latest sound drivers from Dell. That didn't help at all : / I'm gonna try a few more things, but the more feedback the better, thanks!! :)

Do you have the latest Dell Audio Drivers installed? I was hearing a crackling sound via the external speakers on my 8100 and solved that problem by downloading the latest audio driver release.

I'm having same issues with a 400SC.

I ruled out the speakers by hooking up another set.

I ruled out the software, but installing another audio app.

I reinstalled the Dell audio files, but this did not correct it.

I installed another audio card, and it has the crackling, if not worse.

I'm sure it's a driver issue.

Someone please help!

Verify if the sound is still there when you unplug the power plug....

The sound is probably coming from the power brick itself and then amplified with the sound card....

Lots of people have the same issue with their power brick and dell seams to replace the bricks for free...
