Dell 15 3000 series: states hard drive not installed

I bought my boyfriend a DELL Inspiron15 3000 series October 2014 and this weekend it opens with a message stating the hard drive isn’t installed.

Since the laptop isn’t even a year old yet is it covered under a warranty?

If so what do we need to do about getting the laptop serviced/replaced.

Hi,

Thank you for reaching us.

Yes, All Dell products go with default 12 months warranty from us.

If it is a hard drive failure, we can cover it under the warranty as the product is less than year.

Before we could go on with the part replacement, Can we run a hardware diagnostics to confirm there Is no issues with the laptop?

To enter diagnostics, Keep tapping F12 on the startup Dell logo that comes as soon you press the power button.

Select "Diagnostics" from the list, Run it completely and let us know if it passes, Else please reply with the Error message and validation code, we shall take it further.

Thank you

I ran the tests and it says ePSA-success All tests passed

Yet it still says hard drive not installed.

I purchased the laptop in Oct 2014 @ Walmart in Chico, CA with my credit card. I do have cc statement, can't find the store receipt.

Looking forward to your instructions from here

Hi,

Similar to F12, We need to try F2 this time.

It will take you to a bluish grey screen that says BIOS Setup.

In the "Main" screen , Look for an option that says "Fixed HDD" or "Primary HDD" at the lower portion of the screen, and what it reads to the right side of it.

Thank you

Next to the words "FIXED HDD" is the word NONE
