Dell Inspiron 1100 gust mode won't load and can't reset to factory setings

I got a dell inspeiron 1100 from a friend and it has a password and username that we don't know so I put a hard drive from another dell and I turned it on and it started to boot and then the blue screen of death showed so I put the original hard drive in and it still had the password and guest mode still won't load so how do I reset it to the factory default settings if it is hard I will not do it because it needs a new keyboard the os is joli os 1.2
