Dell Inspiron 1545 Processor Socket Type
Hello,
I bought a Dell Inspiron 15 (aka 1545) that only has a T3400 CPU in it. I was thinking about putting a P8600 processor in, but I can not find any documentation what socket type is being used. From the Intel site, it does appear that the P8600 is offered in a couple different socket formats.
Can anyone tell me what the socket type is and is there any reason would prevent upgrading the system. A P8600 and P8700 CPU is an option that the system can be ordered with.

Thanks for the reply. But in looking where all the connectors are on my Inspiron 1545, they don't seem to line up with views of the board layout. I'll have to look inside to see if I can see the board better. You may be correct on the information, it's just not jumping out at me as a perfect match at the moment.

The system is Socket P and uses the PGA format CPU (the BGA format mobiles are soldered to the board, not socketed).
