Dell Inspiron N5010- Reboot and select proper boot device error

I get this message along with an unusually loud, noisy fan. Only happens the first time I've used the laptop ie, in the morning after not being used for several hours. Then it seems after it has warmed up, I'll restart the laptop with no problems. Occasionally, I'll get this error message when using the laptop only on battery, no charger. TIA

Hi Ben65,

Welcome to the Community. It could be that the system is trying to boot through the USB device first. You can change these setting in the Bios, by pressing F2 at the Dell logo on startup, move to Boot, and make sure the 1st boot device is your hard drive.

Hope this helps.

Thank you

Royan
