Dell Laptop Inspiron 1545 usb conneection w/Dell V505 Printer

I keep getting a communication error with my new Dell Win 7 laptop (Inspiron 1545) and my 1 year old Dell printer (V505)

I've spent over 8 hours on the phone with Tech support on 3 occassions they fix it temporarily - We've updated drivers, checked plugging into known working USB ports on my laptop and docking station, plulled the cord on the printer, rebooted laptop - I'm frustrated :emotion-9:

Any ideas?
