Dell Latitude C640 connecting to any projector - 1" on entire left side of screen cut off

I have a Dell Latitude C640 which, no matter what type of projector it is connected to, the image is missing the first inch from the left side of the screen.  I have updated the BIOS and loaded the most recent driver available on Dell's website, but the problem persists.  I also made sure that the display settings matched the native resolution of the projector that I was using - 1024x768.  The problem still persisted.  Has anyone come across a fix for this or is there a setting that I am missing?
