Dell Latitude E6520 media bay battery charging only if main battery is disconected

Hello there,

I have a problem with my media bay battery. When both batterrys (main and media bay) are connected, only main battery is charging, on the media bay battery it says "connected, not charging". If i disconect the main battery, the media bay one starts charging. I tried uninstaling the drivers but it didnt help at all. In fact i cant even uninstall them coz they reappear after restart.

Did anyone encounter this kind of thing? Any help would be aprichiated.

Hi bremen-pl,

Since how long have you been facing this issue? Has the system board been replaced recently on your system?

You can try the following steps:

  1. Re-seat the media bay battery and check.
  2. Try another good known cable, if available.
  3. Try another device (try floppy driver) to eliminate a connector problem.
  4. Run Diagnostics on the battery:
  • Restart the system and keep tapping 'F12' as soon as the Dell logo appears.
  • Highlight 'Diagnostics' using up and down arrow key and press enter.
  • The diagnostics should begin.
  • Press 'Esc' and run 'Battery test' to check the functionality of the battery.
