Dell XPS M1210 Not Booting

Since last night I have been having video problems and failed boots. This morning after booting into Vista the area around my mouse pointer froze with small vertical lines appearing then the screen went blank. Now I am unable to boot the laptop at all, it wont even show the DELL startup logo and option for Diag tools. Any ideas or thoughts?

did you try to connect an external monitor to see if the problem is with the display or with another thing ? when you press the power button , do you see any activity from the hard disk indicator ?
