E1705, I9400 can take up to 4GB RAM ?

Hi,

On this article it states that our Inspiron 9400 can take 4GB of RAM:

So, can someone who really knows about these things (chipset, motherboard, Dell AO2 Bios, E1705 etc) please confirm ...

On the NBF site the consensus seems to be that if we had unlimited funds and already had too many laptops, then it would work fine...

Of course, as Crucial is showing €2200 EURO (yes, TWO THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED EURO - HOLY MOLEY BATMAN !!!) for their 4GB Kit (2*2GB) it may be worth it to wait around 2 years until Vista settles in and 2GB is the norm ... then we'll likely see more sensibe prices for 2GB sticks.. and of course, by then we'll all be buying Dell's new range of 1805's :smileytongue:

I mean, how ridiculous a price is that .... For that we could just buy another laptop!

thanks for confirming

Yes, the 9400 takes up to 4 gb's of RAM. Not really necessary unless you use it for video editing, IMO. http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins9400/en/sm/memory.htm#wp1034050

Why Crucial?

Try http://www.memory4all.com
Same guarantee without the rip off.

I have 1GB in my Inspiron 5160 which is another firebreather and its working fine.

I also own a E1705 T2600 but I have not upgraded the mem yet.
