E5270 Biometric service stopped working error multiple times per day

Hi

The fingerprint scanner on my Dell has been faulty for a while now. When I got the Laptop I installed Dell security software, the one where you can put your fingerprint in for logging in, and used it. That program caused many BSODs per day so I had to remove it but now when using windows Hello fingerprint reading for logging in sometimes the scanner won't work and under signin options there is no option for fingerprint scanner. When checking the reliability history later it shows that Windows Biometric service stopped working. OS is win10 pro.

I have installed many different drivers, even updated the BIOS but the problem still persists. Any ideas?

Thank you for your message.

Open device manager & check if you have the latest version of driver under biometric devices.

Check if there is a Control Vault device installed

Please enter the service tag of your computer on this link http://dell.to/1SZoqSB  download & reinstall the Dell data protection & Security tools driver from security section & restart.

There could be driver error is the fingerprint reader is not compatible with Windows 10. You can check if your system is windows 10 compatible by click on this link  http://dell.to/1XPOVOq
