FN keys do not control the sound.
Hello to all.
I read the following in the FAQ:
Why will the volume buttons on my portable computer not work?
The audio drivers native to your operating system do not enable the volume buttons. Installing the correct drivers from the Dell web site or your drivers CD will enable these buttons. This is especially true of Windows XP. The system-specific driver for the function key volume controls and the Access Direct volume buttons needs to be installed for these buttons to work
Could someone please tell me where the "Function key volume controls and the Access direct volume button" drivers are located?
I have gone through the download section for the Latitude CPx J computers and did not see these drivers.
There are drivers for the sound card, these I have already installed and they did not help.
There are drivers labeled "Dell Enhanced Quietkey (PS2) / Performance (USB) Keyboards", but this sounds like a driver for a special external keyboard.
So if someone could tell me what category the drivers are in that were mentioned in the FAQ, I would be very thankful.
Matt

Problem solved!
Go to Dell Support and look for downloads. Go to audio and download the maestro driver. Volume and brightness/contrast keys work perfectly!
Here's a direct link to the spot: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/devices.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&SystemID=LAT_PNT_P3C_C800&category=3&os=WW1&osl=EN
