Function Keys display on screen not showing...

Well, my computer broke and I had to re-install windows 7, sadly i didn't back up my files, so anyways when I opened it and thought Its all good, just have to download all the softwares again. Things doesn't work as before, functions work as they are just that it doesn't display the functions, I use these keys a lot, especially the volume, they're helpful use and I was hoping someone would help me solve this. Oh, and the Caps lock doesn't show as well, not even in the taskbar too. Pls. help, my computer is an Inspiron 1440
