Inspiron 14z & MT833UP Onda USB 3G modem

Hi all,

I have a strange problem since a couple of months using the MT833UP usb modem (from Onda communication) with my Dell Inspiron 14z. and Windows 8.

If I connect the usb modem to the right usb port of the laptop all works fine: the modem is recognized and I'm able to see it under Explorer. To be precise I see two addictional drives, the first is a partition with the software package from the telecommunication company (TIM Italy). The second drive is the partition related to an SD card that is possible to insert in the modem. Of course I'm able to run the modem software and to connect to the internet thru my provider.

If I connect the usb modem to the left usb port of the laptop (the one near the hdmi port) it is not recognized, nothing happens (but before it worked). I tried to deinstall and reinstall the usb modem drivers but nothing changed.

The left usb port works fine if I attach an external hd, an usb memory key and so on.

Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Fulvio
