Inspiron 15 headphone jack and speaker problem

For some reason, my headphone jack is all messed up. When I plug my headphones in, the sounds leaks through the main speakers, and the sound on my headphones are barely audible. Also, since I started having that problem, it's been causing me considerable problems while video chatting. I know this isn't the video forum, but the audio is in fact the only problem I'm having. When I cam-chat without the use of headphones, there's a loud screeching noise that starts off small, but then slowly gets louder. Although, when I rig my headphones and use those, the screech goes away. It's not only a problem to me, but to the other person on the chat, so could someone please assist?

Sounds like feedback.
