Inspiron 1564 updating BIOS, not enough battery, won't charge

I have researched threads on here regarding this problem, including the checklist at the top.  Thank you for that! But I cannot find help with this problem.  I began getting the unknown AC adapter message.  my BIOS has never been updated, Version A01. Guessing I need to keep that on my list of stuff to do. Battery is currently 5% charge, not charging. WIth NO battery in, power cord works. Battery health report says battery is performing well. Tried to update BIOS but it will not with less than 10% charge.  I had another power cord, that did not charge it either. Is there any way to do this without the battery at 10%??  Thank you for any assistance.

Hi cmja91,

Welcome to the Community.

BIOS cannot be updated if the battery is less than 10%. As you mentioned that you tried a good known adapter and battery health reports that battery is performing well, it can be an issue with the system board.

If you could get another battery from same system model, we can isolate if it is a battery or system board issue.

Thanks & Regards
