Inspiron 5150 Dead After Repair
My laptop shows nothing when I turn it on. I hear it start up and the fan runs, the power light is on at the front of the laptop, but absolutely nothing comes up on the screen, not even the Dell screen. I do not believe it is my screen because I can see it briefly brighten when I first hit the power button.
First off, my power jack was busted, so I went through the process of disassembling the laptop and soldering the jack back into place. I then reassembled. I've never done anything like it before, and its very possible I did something I shouldn't have at some point. The soldering job worked as the battery charge light lit up as soon as I plugged it in.. Unfortunately, I have this new issue.
I realize that the thing is probably shot, but does anyone have anything I could try? After unhooking everything (to fix the power jack), is there something I have to do to reinstall the operating system? I'd appreciate any help, this is really frustrating as I spent a lot of time fixing this thing and now something else is wrong.

Just for grins I would recheck every thing. Especially connections you may have accidently changed when reconnecting.
I have had problems with other electronic gadgets that had one pin offset in my 35 years in the industry. Resetting connections corrected problem.
