Inspiron Mini 10v RAM upgrade ?
Thinking about getting one of these but have some questions...
All are supplied with 1 Gb of RAM (1024MB 800MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [1x1024]) is it possible to replace this with 2 or 4Gb RAM or is the memory module soldered to the motherboard ?

The mini 10 V (aka Inspiron 1011) has socketed RAM, not soldered - it can be upgraded to 2G. You CANNOT however use 4G - the Atom processor has the memory controller onboard the CPU, and supports a max of 2G. It's soldered to the board, so the CPU cannot be upgraded.
Getting to the memory is not trivial though - it requires removing the system board:

Where did you find that, I saw the page that said you could take it apart but when I went to the product page it says that the maximum supported is 1024.

I checked the product page for the Mini10v on the Dell website and it says that the 1gb is the maximum amount for the Mini10v.

The 2G limit is inherent to the Atom CPU on this system - it is part of the Intel design spec for the processor.

Cheers for the replies
would have though Atom manufacture would have produced the chip to support 4Gb, but being able to upgrade to 2 Gb is good
