Integrated Graphics vs. non integrated graphics
I was wondering, are there any discrete video cards supported by the XPS M1530? The M1530 in question is currently running a nVidia GeForce 8600M GT.
The laptop also has a 2.4 ghz. Intel Core 2 duo T8300 processor, 4GB's of DDR2 ram. But i'm not sure that will make much of a difference.
I'm currently running with integrated graphics, and playing Age of Empires, Dawn of the Modern World lags my display, and eventually slows down my entire system, and if I build too many tanks, the computer crashes.
I know it's the graphics card, because on occasion, while playing age of empires, the graphics lag a little bit for a little while, but as soon as it stops lagging, the troops, tanks, vehicles, etc. look like they are running about 100 miles per hour for roughly 5 seconds, then they return to normal speed. Also, if I turn down the resolution, picture quality, and switch from 32-bit color to 16-bit in the game, it helps me to get the system out of the lag.

The system has a soldered-on video chip that isn't replaceable or upgradeable - essentially all notebooks except those at the very high end now, do.
