Latitude D630, Frozen, Strip Screen. : (

Sometimes, I just find the underneath becomes extremely hot, then the mouse freezed, strip screen. And I have to shut down the computer, wait untill the temprature turns back. It seems like the fan for CPU or video card does not work.

Besides, I installed VMware recently, and it keeps on telling me the actual CPU speed is different from Windows XP's report. Why?? (I am using duel CPU with 2.0Ghz for each, which is also Windows's report, while the CPU speed reported by VMware is some number between 800Mhz-1666Mhz )

I am not sure if that is because of a computer game I played recently, but this problem happenned just after I played the game. However, that game is a dinosaur DOS game, and requires nearlly nothing for the video card. Would this be the problem??

Thanks a lot.

It'd be a good idea to run the Dell diagnostics to verify the operation of the cooling fans (f12 at powerup).

Thanks for you suggestion.

I tried the diagnostics, and it said everything worked perfectly.

And I tried some game which could be run very well before,  then the whole computer went down.

It becomes totally strip screen, I mean I can not even start it now.

I think the only choice for me is to send it back for repair.

Anyway, thanks again for your help.
