Memory upgrade for Dell Inspiron 5577

Hi all, I bought a Dell Inspiron 5577 with 8GB of DDR4 2400mhz memory about a month ago.

With a virtual machine and two instances of visual studio, I am very closing to maxing it out. As you probably know, memory has become rather expensive over the past few months and I have found some slightly less expensive memory on Amazon, but it is 2666mhz. (Link below)

I was wondering if I were to use this memory, if it would just down-clock to match the slower memory that is already in the laptop (like how it does in desktops) or just not work. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you in advance.

You'll have to ask the seller about compatibility - that said, to maintain dual-channel operation, you should have matched modules.

Thanks for the reply, I realized too late that the link to the item did not work. Sad thing is as I decided to buy it after reading your reply (the same day or the day after), the price jumped 23$, woo. Memory prices are kind of insane right now.

Looks like my computer's memory has 17-17-17-39 latency, so what I get (provided it works) should match that latency as it is higher.

Alright, I bought the ones I mentioned in my last post and they arrived 2 days later. They work just fine (although the latency on my two different sticks of ram are 18-17-17-39) (The stick that came in the laptop was 17-17-17-39 and the ballistics was 16-16-16-39 and somehow that combined to 18-17-17-39).

I then had to test a program that ended up having causing a bug at 3.3GB of memory used which I would not have been able to reach without the purchase, so all is good. Huzzah!
